I'm fucken exhausted...

Believe it or not, true believers...

I got my ass down to the gym today. At first, my colleague, Andy Leong and I were supposed to head down to California Fitness to maximise my free 7 days trial period. However, if we were to use the bloody gym, Andy would have to be subjected to a tour of the Orchard gym. That's like only 15 minutes tops. Wait til you check out how they grill you to subscribing a free membership on the spot. Dangerous. And that takes like more than 45 minutes just to clear (read my previous post).

If not, he'd have to pay a $35 guest fee. No fucken way, Jose!!!

So, we trooped back to the office gym and sweated it out there. For more than a year and the occasonal bus chasing, I actually fucken jogged!!! Ran for about 15 minutes... though I didn't move like Lee Majors in The Six Million Dollars Man. You gotta cut me some slack. I haven't been exercising for like, eons. Now, I'm feeling some muscles which I thought had gone the way of the dinosaurs.

I think I'm gonna suffer when I wake up tommorrow...

Shaun of the Dead

Can we watch this already?

Heineken Green Room Sessions: Elevation 245

Went with Melvin, Khai, his French friend, Fabrice, Chung and his girlfriend, Wee Keng. We were late as we were drinking at the kopitiam aka coffeeshop downstairs.

I think we missed Throb's set. Watched them play 2 years ago at the 1st Awakening Baybeats at the Esplande. They were pretty interesting. They've gotten themselves a permanent keyboardist this time round by the name of Amanda. Melvin has been raving about how hot she is and all that crap. I dunno. Saw her from far at the last Electrico gig which I caught. I couldn't really see her face though I must say she had great long wavy hair. They have pictures of the different bands here. Still couldn't see her face clearly though she looks delectable. Anyway, I have their CD which is like an almagam of jazz and funk. Pretty good stuff though some parts became way too similar and monotonous after a while.

The Funky Lowlives played an interesting set which combined pre-programmed samples and live instrumentation, much to Melvin's chargin. Kinda reminds of one band... hmmm, especially one that I play in. Gettin' wanky here. Anyway, their set was decent. Nothing too pumping and well, exciting. It got better progressively I would say. And I must add as well, I use better guitar patch cables than the guitarist. Ha!

And we went down for more beers. After we came back up, we managed to catch like the last 3 songs of the last live act, Groove Jam which was fucken amazing. They were tight as hell and over-the-top entertaining as well. The Jamaican singer, Aurora Dawn (you gotta love such a name) was dry-humping the guitarist on stage after she threw him on the stage floor. She could sing and rap, always a bonus. The drummer was amazing, backing everyone with precision. It got me thinking that, as much as I like Jamiroquai, they could be overrated.

The last act to come on was Jazzanova's DJ Alex Barck on a soundsystem. Well, I guess he cleared the floor faster than Groove Jam packed it and got the crowd going. This is honestly the 1st time I've seen a band pushing a crowd harder and wilder than a DJ. Then again, I suppose people are just bored with seeing just a guy spinning black circles.

And that was my weekend.

Unbelieveable!!!

It's already Friday and I'm not working this weekend!!!

Woo hoooooo......

Seriously, the weeks are flying by so fast. Damn, I can't believe I'm saying this. There just seems to be too many things to do in so little time.

Thanks...

Gracie wrote the 78 Love Experiment a nice review though we cocked up a few times on Sun. Very sweet of her...

Rizal & Alvin got pretty good vibes from her as well. I like Rizal's voice a lot. Reminds me of our ex-singer, AB a bit. That type of soul which, well, as Billy had said before, Malays and Indians seem to have but we yellow boys lack. Sad but true... No, that's not a corny Metallica reference.

Just realised I've forgotten to return her Lemon Jelly and Bent CDs. They didn't really do it for me. Just bought the Observatory album. Good stuff. Beginning to like it. They are playing a gig tommorrow.

Still Spreadin'...

Here are some photos from the night of the gig. Taken masterfully (is there such a word eh?) by Jason Siau. Thanks mate!!! As he had to leave early, he couldn't stay to take pictures of Genetic Habit. Sorry, Clifton!

Hahah, I think I got carried away with the photos. But the rest should be up on the 'Spread The Love' site soon.

Californication

I was walking to Sembawang Music Centre to get a copy of The Observatory's new album and got waylaid by a California Fitness instructor who was trying to recruit members outside their Orchard gym. He invited me in for a tour of the gym and threw me a bait of 7 days free trial.

The prospect of seeing hot and sweaty chicks pumping iron piqued my interest, needless to say. So in, I went. (Gotta love these puns!!!) I was quite impressed as it was my 1st time in the joint. It was extremely crowded for any kinda place for a Monday night I guess. Shitloads of gym equipment. I actually felt inspired to work out as well. Of course, women clad in tight spandex always rocks.

Well, the guy tried to hard-sell me to get the membership. I wouldn't. They tried the 'Use-a-good-looking-Caucasian-chick-to-soften-up-the-guy-to-buy' tactic but it didn't work. Finally, when they couldn't wear me down, they sent for reinforcements which came in the form of a head fitness analyst of sorts. He tried and took out loads of enrollment fees and all. It was really highly tempting and all. But I still didn't budge.

Cuz I was really flat broke til the end of this month.

Still, I might actually sign up. Who knows? And I forgot to compliment the Cauasian trainer on her Singlish. No shit, she could speak like one of us.

Finally, it's over...

... the gig is finally over.

Back to the regular, more relaxed lifestyle. No more rushing from place to place. It was shambolic on my part. Played way too many wrong notes...

Think I better start practising more from now. Then again, that's what I always say and never do. Hurhur...

I think we would be uploading the photos and mp3s on the Spread The Love website soon.

Thanks to the membersss who came down and supported us. Y'know who you are!!! Thanks a million!!! Really appreciate it. Thanks to Billy, Grace and Jason Siau for helping out on the MD recording, digital video recording and photography respectively!!!

I think I should be organising another one soon. But this time, hopefully, there will be less cock-ups.

Sunday, March 21, 2004

Back to your regular blogging schedule...

... which will only happen once the gig ends I guess...

Just remembered I had something to bitch about but I am too tired to type it out in full right now.

No updates

In case, you've been wondering why there's no regular updates.

I've really been busy with work and have been jamming every alternate day due to the upcoming gig. I think my brain feels dead after a while due to the severe lack of sleep. Really fucken tired...

I think I'd take it easy next week onwards. Have some early nights and all...

Big headache...

After working 13 days non-stop and having the average of 5 hours of sleep every day for the past 3 weeks, I woke up with a headache and a neckache from sleeping 10 hours non-stop... What the fuck?

After last night, I realised my lactose-intolerance applied to dairy products in general, not just milk. I think I'd stay off blue cheese for a while, at least not taking so much at one go.

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test

Had to help out at a company event on Thursday night. It was sorta a corporate 'getting-to-know-yourself-better' course and use your distinct characteristics to further your social and professional life. There was this Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test to help you gauge what type you are.

There are 8 types of traits in 4 categories: Extraversion vs. Introversion, Sensing vs. Intuition, Thinking vs. Feeling and Judging vs. Perceiving. For what they mean, read this. You would have to group your type groups in this 4 categories.

I am a ENFP. And this is supposed to be me.

Warmly enthusiastic and imaginative. See life as full of possibilities. Make connections between events and information very quickly and confidently proceed based on the patterns they see. Want a lot of affirmation from others and readily give appreciation and support. Spontaneous and flexible, often rely on their ability to improvise and their verbal ability

I've got fucken 0 for Sensing which means I hate numbers and present information, etc. I love Maths but hated Accounting and Finance. I just cannot deal with money that is not mine to spend!!! It's true that I need loads of affirmation from others, so you all better make yourselves free on the 21st this month!!!

Meet-up...

Finally met up with Mandy after like, a year and a half... with a bunch of guys that I see too often to be mentioned here. She still looks good and I think that she lost some weight as well. It was really great to catch up with her after so long. She was one of the funnier people that I met in my Uni days with her constipation problems and all freely discussed.

I took this Physical Attraction Test before and apparently, I'm very attracted to women who looks like this physically.

And Mandy looks very much like the girl in the photo above.

So, I lost no time in proclaiming my everlasting love for her during the night. However, she's getting married in September... Dammit.

That's why they say good women are either married or lesbians.

Work and Play...

Was at the Career Seminar working over the entire weekend. Bumped into a HELL lot of old friends... and strangely, I met all my National Junior College ex-schoolmates on Thursday. Then from Friday onwards, they just came assorted, i.e. I knew them from different periods in my life.

Bumped in my JC classmate, Shawn who mentioned that he is getting married in May. Sigh, with Yeeyong's impending one next month, I'm gonna be terribly broke soon...

Hung out with George whenever possible at the Fair. Hmmm, he was telling me that he had a suggestion of how he could help me route all my guitar pedals. Can't remember much of it though.

Watched Tim Burton's "Big Fish" with my colleague, Andy Leong. Pretty good movie. I guess it's sorta a return to standards for Burton. Great story, pretty good acting and great directing. After the movie, I swore I saw Donita Rose and her husband. They were walking in front of us. And she looked a little like a blimp. Which could mean that she's pregnant. Damn... her husband is a lucky guy indeed.

If you are in a relationship...

... let the Lounge Lizard play Aunt Agony. Never let it succumb to a relationship where you pay each other a tit-for-a-tat.

It hurts...

He started it!!!

She started it!!!

Sigh... there goes one fine relationship. Then again, I guess, it's important to stick to your own species for it to work out as well.

Help needed...

For those who have their blogs, online diaries or any form of online exhibitionistic site, be it audio, visual, etc., if you could, please help out here. Copy the following HTML code and paste it into your template. Just replace all the ( and ) with < and > respectively. I apologise for my lack of HTML knowledge.

Shanks you smelly much...

Thanks to Gracie who has helped me out here. Thanks, sweetie!!

What's better than a David Bowie concert on a Thursday night?

A free David Bowie gig, of course!!!

Thanks to Alvin who got the free tickets from his friend and Jason Ong aka J. O. who got 4(!!!) free tickets from his colleague's friend. Thus, the whole membersss troupe (including Yeeyong, Weiyuan and Billy) went out on an excursion to watch the Thin White Duke.

I'd love to write something about it... but it's 2 am and I've work not just tommorrow but the entire weekend. Sigh... Some other time I guess.

I'm not a spy!!!

Was out taking pictures of a billboard outside the Australian High Commission with my new colleague, Andy Leong for the new job.

We were happily taking shots and the next thing you know, the guard from the American Embassy rushed up to us. (the American Embassy is just next door) Andy was taking the pictures while I went up to explain. He asked...

"Oi, why are you taking photos?"

"Our company is one of the sponsors of the event which is advertised on the billboard. Our boss asked us to come and take some pictures of the advertisement with our company's logo."

The guard squinted at us suspiciously, "Okay... make it fast before the Ghurkhas call the Marines out..."

Er...okay...whatever...

Then the guard from the Australian High Commission had to join in the fun after the one from the American Embassy left.

"Who gave you the permission to take photos outside the High Commission?"

We had to explain everything all over again.

"No, no.... follow me back to the guard house. You are NOT allowed to take photos here."

I turned my head towards the Ghurkha guard whose hand was inching towards his semi-automatic weapon. Fucken drama, if you asked me. So we had to trudge along with him, smiling at every guard in sight like Queen E. making her rounds on some parade. Their faces were solemn and they kept telling us about the whole entire security issue, the whole 9-11 thing, etc. I understand the uptightness and all. In fact, the two of us were pretty amused by the whole incident.

After some high level dude came down to the guardhouse and looked through the digicam, we were told that we were free to go. Then the guard started again on if it was during nighttime, instead of office hours, they would have called the cops. Of course, then we would have go over to the police station. Though Tanglin Police Station was just across the road, I don't think that they would have let us walk across by ourselves. And our families would have to bail us out.

Well, we didn't get arrested or anything.

Man, I thought I'd spend one night in the the slammer. Damn... hor, Mr. C?

David Fucken Bowie tonight!!!

Thanks to my membersss, Alvin who got free tickets for the Bowie gig tonight. I'm watching it free!!! Hehehe... Dunno if Yeeyong would still join us or not...? Hmmm...

I can't wait man!!!
